An Update on Final Vendetta for Neo Geo

Hey everyone,

It’s Matt Cope here, Technical Director at Bitmap Bureau.

Firstly, we at Bitmap just want to say a huge thank you to all of you for your patience, enthusiasm and continued support for Final Vendetta on the Neo Geo AES and MVS. We know many of you were hoping to be playing the game by now, and we’re truly sorry to say that we’ve missed our Q2 2025 target. We wanted to explain to you guys what’s been happening behind the scenes and why we’ve slipped a little, and to also let you know that we’re really not far off now.

In our last post, we mentioned how much we’ve grown as an indie studio and that growth has only accelerated through 2025.

When we were working on Xeno Crisis for the Sega Mega Drive, there were just three or four of us and we never imagined we’d be where we are today. Fast forward a few years, and we’re now an indie studio of around 30 highly passionate and experienced game developers with a number of titles currently in dev at the same time! That’s an incredible leap, and it’s in no small part thanks to you, our supporters and the wider retro gaming community, who have backed and believed in the work we’re doing.

We’ve had a tremendously busy 2025 so far, balancing the completion of Terminator 2D: NO FATE’s development, plugging away on the Doom SNES project, and working on several exciting unannounced projects, including something incredibly epic to be announced very soon. We can’t share details on that just yet, but stay tuned!

Throughout all of that, Final Vendetta for Neo Geo has remained a top priority despite the competition for our time. We had still been aiming for a pre-summer release, but unfortunately, the overlap of these deadlines caused a small but significant slip in our schedule.

Just as we were making some headway, we ran into scheduled building works in our main office and shared building. On top of that, we’re now in the middle of a patchy summer period, with some members of the team taking some much-needed holiday time.

We’re still pushing hard and expect to ramp into the next stages of assembly very soon. In the meantime, we’ve recorded new gameplay footage showing Karen, our additional playable character, integrated into the game. Listen closely, and you’ll even hear one of the alternate music tracks that can be unlocked in the final release!

So to all the fans out there, we’re sorry we didn’t quite make Q2, but please know that we aren’t far away now. Thank you again for sticking with us, for your patience and for the messages that keep us energised, especially after those long days! We can’t wait to get Final Vendetta into your hands and onto your Neo Geo.

From all of us at Bitmap Bureau, thank you!
